Wetaskiwin Air Services Instructors

Ronald Vanden Dungen,
Chief Flight Instructor

Ron always wanted to fly and he was given the opportunity at 14 to try flying he has not looked back.  He completed his Private Pilot License on his 17th birthday becoming the youngest Private Pilot in Canada (at least for a few days) and went on to complete his Aviation Diploma in Red Deer.  Ron has been a flight instructor since 2001 and became a Class 1 Flight Instructor in 2005.  That same year Ron became the President and Director of Flight Operations for Wetaskiwin Air Services and in 2007 he became the Airport Manager for the Wetaskiwin Regional Airport.  Adding several Transport Canada delegations along the way including Authorized Person, Radio Examiner, Aviation Language Proficiency Examiner, Written Exam Invigilator and Pilot Examiner for the Recreational, Private and Commercial Licenses, Ron serves General Aviation in the Greater Edmonton Area.  Ron likes to spend his free time travelling, thinking about work and enjoying life with his wife Lisa and daughter Patricia.

Nathan Johnson
Flight Instructor/Charter Pilot

Nathan has always wanted to be a pilot; it wasn’t until he made the move from Cochrane to Pigeon Lake that it finally became a reality. He has completed his entire flight training here in Wetaskiwin, including most recently his Group 1 instrument and instructor rating. Growing up on the farm Nathan still spends a few hours here and there in the field, but most of his time not spent in the air he can likely be found on the lake, reading, or thinking about his next flight.
